Twenty-seven year old Lamar Kerry, by his own admission,
was just going through the motions. He finished college,
moved home and took a position at his father's newspaper.
He was aware of the mundanity of his life but there didn't
seem to be any other course of action for him. However a
local racially motivated crime changes everything. Lamar's
eyes are opened to all sorts of things he'd either taken
for granted or ignored, including the vast racist undercurrent
of his seemingly benign working-class town. All of this
and more happens in Brock Clarke's
fantastic debut novel The Ordinary White
Boy.
Clarke will be signing and reading from the paperback edition
of his book beginning at 5 p.m.
