Reviews by Square Books, Jr.'s Jill.
Absolutely my favorite Patrick McDonnell book ever. Easily a good choice for a read-aloud for kids and technology addicts of all ages. There's nothing this story doesn't have, and the illustrations have a Gary Larson-esque hilarity which makes them pop off every page.
Jeffers has delivered yet another picture book full of word play wonder, juxtaposed through mixed media and typeset masterpieces, all to brilliantly celebrate the book itself.
Deborah Freedman's illustrations in her new picture book SHY are as visually lovely as the prose is tender. Beyond the beautiful color play, the contextual play, Shy's being inside and outside the physical book, is a brilliant device which lends the story an even greater depth. My heart is happy.
