CAPT HOOK by J.V. Hart. I honestly enjoyed CAPT
HOOK. It showed a delightful insight into the juvenile
life of Capt. Hook.

Car
Trouble by Jeanne DuProu, the author of City of Ember
and The People of Lights, is an amazing book about 17
year old Duff Pringle. Duff is a computer genius, he has
been recruited by a computer software company in Silicon
Valley, California. It is a great job, that pays very
well for someone without a college education. He promised
his boss that he would be there by Monday, it's already
Thursday. No big problem right? Wrong, he lives in Richmond,
Virginia. He also promised himself that he would see all
the tourist sites on the way. On the way he meets some
intresting people, Stu, a hitchiker on his way to California,
Moony, an oddball of a dog, and Bonnie, a music artist
on her way to the top. This is my very favorite book,
its funny, yet kinda serious. (ages 11-14)

I can't tell you too much without
giving this book away, but I can tell you that this book
is awesome. Its about a kid named Matt. He's supposed
to go spend some time with his dad, who happens to be
an archaeologist. Matt is not looking forward to this
trip. It's not that Matt doesn't like his dad, it's just
that his dad is a slob and very different than what Matt
is used to. When Matt shows up at his father's house,
all is not right. The house is even more of a mess than
usual, and Matt's dad is nowhere to be found. Matt thus
travels to his Aunt Jane's house, and from there he is
dragged into an adventure that takes him all over the
world in search of an ancient artifacts and his father.

Vermeer, a great mystery book by Blue Balliett, follows
Calder Pillay and Petra Andalee on a quest to save a piece
of art by artist Jan Vermeer. When this piece of art,
A Lady Writing, is stolen, Calder and Petra's friends,
neighbors, family members, and even the painting itself
are endangered. A great peice of work! If you enjoy this
book, I recommend reading the sequel, The Wright 3.

Cirque
Du Freak #10 Lake of Souls
In the beginning
of Lake of Souls, Hakart and Darren are at Cirque
Du Freak doing some jobs there and traveling with the
performers. One night Hakart has another one of his nightmares
(you'll know about this if you've read Vampire Mountain
and Trials of Death). That's wehn Mr. Tiny arrives
and gives Hakart two choices: stay with Darren and look
for the Vampaneze and go mad or find out who he is. That's
how the adventure began. Read all the Cirque Du Freaks
books in order or you won't know who Mr. Tiny, Evanna
and Hakart are. This book features the following: a lot
of twists and turns, weird animals, the world's largest
toad, dragons, a crazy pirate, a religious group of people,
a giant worm with thousands of hands that eats people,
and a lake full of souls (hence the name). Enjoy.

The

have no idea that there is a sky or light or anything.
When the city was being built, the instructions on how

CITY

This first book is about a total city that is underground.
They have rooms and rooms of storage that is running on
empty. They have almost no more lightbulbs and their energy
source is faltering. They need to escape to another place,
but the only problem is they dont know how! (8 and up)

Lewis' The Magician's Nephew is the
first book in the Chronicles of Narnia series. Digory
Kurke and Polly Plummer are friends in London. One
day Digory's "magician" Uncle Andrew uses them for
an experiment to travel to other worlds. They awaken
an evil witch, and go to Narnia, where the Aslan defeats
her. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
is probably the most popular book in The Cronicles
of Narnia series. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and
Lucy are sent to an old professor's house during the
air raids in London. Soon they all go into the professor's
wardrobe, and are sent to the land of Narnia. There,
they find the land is ruled by an evil witch. The
lion Aslan forms an army to bring down her reign and
eternal winter. Magic, adventure and battle. Can it
get any better? I submit that it cannot!
The Horse and His Boy is the third book
in the book in The Cronicles of Narnia
series. The book is about Shasta, the "son" of a Calormene
fisherman. One night,when a slave-trader comes to
buy him, he goes to Narnia on the Talking Horse, Bree.
Along the way they meet up with the Calormene noblewoman
Aravis, and the Talking Horse, Hwin. They all make
their way to Narnia, and fight in a battle against
the Calormene army. I've found that's one of the less
popular titles, but I think it's an excellent book.
Prince Caspian is the fourth book in
The Cronicles of Narnia series, and
one of the more well-known ones. With good reason.
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are summoned back to
Narnia, hundreds of years after they ruled as kings
and queens. Now they must join with Prince Caspian
and Aslan to fight against the evil at hand.

CONVERTING KATE, by Beckie Weinheimer, is a wonderful
story about a girl who has to start her life over in a
new town accross the country from her old home. This sudden
move is caused by the death of her father. Her faith has
been lost and her mother is as religious as ever, so their
relationship has become a bit rocky. A beautiful coming
of age story. (13 & up)

CRANK,
by Ellen Hopkins, is one of the best books I have ever had
my hands on. It is NOT, I repeat, NOT for any young readers,
but for the older teens. Check it out! It is pretty intense,
all about drug addictions and the big S, but it is so...so.....good.
It is about a girl who goes to visit her dad, who has been
out of her life for a long time. She discovers "crank",
the key to her downfall, and Buddy, who shows her the way.
She goes home, and can't rid herself of the temptation of
crank. (Mature 13 and up)

Cry
of the Icemark
Do
you like adventure, battles, fantasy, and even a little
romance? If you do, then you will love this book. There
are creatures of all kinds and the suprises never stop
coming. There's a little drama and a little romance (guys,
not so much that it'll ruin it, and girls, just enough
to keep you interested). Now, about the content. This
book's two main characters are a warrior princess and
a Witch's son. Did I mention they were teenagers? Well,
the action doesn't really begin until Icemark (the country
ruled by the warrior king, King Redrought, father of Thirrin,
the warrior princess) is invaded by a powerful neighboring
country. At this point Redrought goes off to a seemingly
hopeless battle and Thirrin is left to defend her country.
However, she's not alone. She's left with the best of
her housecarls (soldiers), her wise advisor, her tutor,
and her new-found friend, a Witch's son named Oskan. Together
they journey to find old allies and even make some new
allies out of the most unlikely of creatures. Are you
interested yet? Well, if you are, good, check out this
book.
