Scorpia by Anthony Horowitz
The most stunning thriller of the Alex Rider series.
Fourteen year-old Alex's father died when Alex was
only two months old. Yassen Gregorovich had told
him everything. M16 had used him, manipulated him,
and, most of all, killed his father. assen also
mentioned something else before he died: Scorpia.
Alex's dad had worked for them. Well, before he
died. Gregorovich says Scorpia was his destiny.
Alex manages to become acquainted with the criminal
organizatinon, who is working to on an important
plot to crush the power of Britain and America.
What will happen next in this thriller? Read to
find out. Ages 10-14.

The
Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan One of the best
books I have ever read. Percy Jackson is going about
his "normal life" in school, when an innocent game
of dodgeball turns into a bloody fight to the death.
There he encounters Annebeth, who helps him escape
and return to Camp Half-Blood. There they find out
that the magical border of the camp has been poisoned!
The only way to save the tree is to retrieve the
Golden Fleece. There they discover a plot to raise
the evil Kronos from the Underworld! Percy and Annebeth
are soon thrown into a journey of twists and turns
that they cannot possibly imagine. Ages 10-16.

Farmer has given us some good books over the years,
and The Sea of Trolls is no exception. It follows
the tale of Jack, a bard's apprentice. One day he
and his younger sister get captured by beserkers.
I hate it when that happens. He gets swept up in an
adventure with magic, vikings, and (suprise) trolls.
So read it. It's good. Seriously.

Seeker (Book One in the Noble Warriors Trilogy)
by Willian Nicholson
This
is an intense, fast paced story following the journey
of three teenagers- all brought together by a passionate
wish to join the fabled Nomana, seekers of justice
and peace. But the Nomana are threatened by a weapon
unrivalled by anything ever seen before. The three
companions must face a perilous journey to a distant
kingdom in order to destroy the weapon and prove
their courage and worth- not only to the Nomana,
but to themselves. This is a wonderful, emotive
book, full of powerful language and rich imagery.
I recommend it to lovers of fantasy and those looking
for a charged read.

SilverWing
This
past week I found a very interesting book, called Sunwing I looked in the inside of the book
and saw that there was a book written before it,
but sadly it wasn’t on the shelfLuckily it was in
the box my Reading teacher Mrs. Webb got. I have
done a review on forest creatures that fly (see
SwordBird) well this one is about bats. Shade a
young one in the Silverwing colony has always been
the smallest, he is barely even bigger than the
newborns and has always wanted to find his father.
One night Chanook wants to wait and see the sun
but the bats were banished by the owls never to
see the sun because they never took sides in the
great animal and beast wars along time ago. An owl
spots them while they are waiting for the sun and
gives chase he never catches Shade and Chanook but
later returns and with an owl war party and burns
down Tree Haven. Forced the bats migrate to the
Hibernaculum but on the way Shade is thrown far
out to sea on a boat which is headed towards an
island there he meets Marina who as been forced
out of her colony because she has a mysterious band
on her arm. Now Shade and Marina must find their
way to the other SilverWings….

of sense. But a great book! Here's a brief description.
Arthur, the Rightful Heir, is recruited into the army
of the Architect. Soon he is learning how to fight.
A new type of Nithling, or creatures made from Nothing,
are attacking the Great Maze.It is action packed and
exciting. I recommend it.

Skulduggery
Pleasant By Derek Landy One of the best books ever.
Hands down. Skulduggery Pleasant tells the story of
a young girl living a normal life until her absurd
and abnormal uncle, Gordon, dies mysteriously and
leaves almost everything he owns to her, including
his mansion and his money. That night, left alone
in her new house, she is assaulted by an intriguing
man trying to find a "key." Right as he is about to
kill her, the door blows open and there is Skulduggery
Pleasant, who quickly disposes of the mage, introducing
her to a whole different world. Ages 11 and up.

SMALL
STEPS, by Louis Sachar, is amazing. This companion
to HOLES is focused mainly on Armpit. He
is living in Texas, working at an honest job, earning
money the honest way, when X-ray shows up with a
money making scheme that is suposedly "not illegal."
Through a tale with stuffed animals with leukemia
and a run-in with a rock star, Louis Sachar's amazing
ability comes through. (10 and older)

The
Squire's Tales: The Quest Of The Fair Unknown,
by Gerald Morris, is a new installment in the series The Squire's Tales. It is very good. The
characters are placed in the same time King Arthur
is king. This novel starts out with a boy that is
very untouched by human contact. In fact Beaufils
(pronounced Bo-feece) met the first person that
he had ever seen beside his mother and he met the
man when he was burying his mother. His mother told
him to do one thing and that was to go to King Arthur's
court and find his father a knight of the round
table. But when he is asked what his father's name
is he says well father I suppose? He is very lost
in the world of men. Once he gets to the round table
a voce and a mysterious dish tells them to search
for the Holy Grail. Once on his mission he meets
a new friend Lady Ellyn and has to help her fulfill
her quest. And in fulfilling her quest he would
find his own. The road is dangerous it is filled
with different worlds, crazed bandits, and most
unholy hermits. (ages 10+)

The
book that i just got through reading was Standing
against the Wind, by Traci L Jones. This book
was about a girl named Patrice who moved from a
little town in Georgia to the big city of Chicago.
Patrice faced many challenges and had a hard time
fitting in. She was a really bright student, in
fact she was actually one of the smartest students
at her school. Patrice had always had a crush on
Monty. She figured he would never like her back,
but she got proved wrong many times.
One day when she was coming home from school Monty
and his boys{as he called them} were sitting in
front of the building and Patrice walked by. Eddie
and Rashad were talking about Patrice but Monty
told them to hush up, and since he's like the leader
of the group they listened to him. Oneday Monty
sent a message by Patrice's aunt to tell her to
come by his house. She got really nervous. Patrice
didn't know what it was that Monty was wanting.
In the end it was all so she could help Monty's
little brother Michael. By Patrice helping Michael,
it reallt help Monty improve in school. Patrice
went through so many problems, but she always had
a friend like Monty to help her. In the end she
got into Dogwood Academy. Also, Monty's grades keep
improving.
I thought this was a really good book. I recomeneded
it to so many people and my english teacher Ms.
Duncan is considering reading to our class to do
our 3rd nine weeks writing project.

Stormbreaker
by Anthony Horowitz is a book about a 14 year old
boy named Alex Rider. It is the first book in the
Alex Rider Series. When Alex's uncle, Ian Rider,
died, they said it was a car crash he wasn't wearing
a seatbelt. Alex knew better than that though. His
uncle always told him to wear a seatbelt. Now he
is determined to find out how he died. He goes to
a junkyard where he thinks his uncles car is and,
sure enough, there it is. But the Mercedes is riddled
by bullet holes and there is blood on the seat.
Now he is inside the car and, THUNK! he is being
lifted up in the air! He soon realizes that he is
being dropped into the crusher, as it squeezes him
tighter and tighter he struggles to get free...
Will he make it, what happens next!? Find out in
Stormbreaker. The first book in the Alex Rider series.
Also, this book is extremely boring in the beginning,
but bear with it. It is worth it!

SwordBird
(WRITTEN BY A 12 YEAR-OLD)
You've
read about cats (Warriors) furry little woodland
creatures (Redwall) now be ready to add animals
with swords and attitude to your bookshelf. This
is really a book about birds with swords fighting
each other. It all starts out with the Cardinals
fighting the Blue jays thinking that one another
stole from them. Lord Turrnat likes this he knows
that eventually they will tire themselves out and
then he will come in and capture all of them and
force them to work on Fortress Glooming. Their only
hope is to summon SwordBird but how?
