Wabi: A Heroes Tale by Joseph Bruchac is about an owl who falls in love with a human girl – yes, I know it's crazy but it makes for a great story. His grandmother taught him how to speak "human" so he could understand the native people of the land. That's how he falls for the human girl. Wabi is also what you could call a protector of the humans. There are bad maijd's of Gready Eaters and they are horrible things that will gobble you up! Wabi becomes human and has to save the love of his life when one of the bad creatures comes to her village. If you like stories about nature and adventure you will surely love this.

If you like cats in action you will enjoy the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. if you want to start the series I would start with Into the Wild, book one. Here is a short part of the story. For generations four clans of wild cats have shared the forest according to the laws laid down by their warrior ancestors. The thunderclan cats are in grave danger, and the sinister shadowclan grows stronger every day. Noble warriors are dying and some deaths are more mysterious than others. In the midst of the turmoil appears an ordinary house cat named Rusty...who may turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all.

THE WEE FREE MEN, by Terry Pratchett, is a story about a girl who wants to be a witch. She finds a monster one day and uses her brother as bait for it. The Queen steals him and takes him to her world of dreams. Then Tiffany, the heroine, makes an alliance with the wee free men and goes into the queens world to save her brother. Slow to pick up, but after it does, it is alright. Not the best, but entertaining. (9 and up)

Wildwood Dancing is the best book ever!! It has adventure, romance, and a talking frog. Set in Transylvania, it also has a little to do with vampires, or in this book, Night People. When Jena, 15, is told to look after the house while her father is gone, she didn't expect having to battle her cousin and put up with tragedy. A great book for romance and adventure lovers!!! (10& up)

Wind Tamer

Umm this hasn't been the best or the worst books I've read but its pretty good. This book isn't more about taming wind or defeating it. One night out of the blue his uncle that's been gone for about 9 years reappears one cold and windy night. Harry (I think that's his name) must learn about his past and defeat a deadly curse.

by Terry Pratchett

Wintersmith, by Terry Pratchett, is like the classic presentation a witch, but with "real" magic. It had a lot of references to pointy hats and warts. The book had a rocky beginning, but got better as it advanced. Imaginative slang made sure that your mind didn't wander while you read. Wintersmith was a surprisingly descriptive book, making sure that you were sucked right into the midst of the action. Basically, the story is about a farm witch named Tiffany who is training to own her own cottage. Eventually she is granted the honor to go to a special dance. Because of her fatal mistake, Tiffany is charged with preventing the world from lapsing into eternal winter. But she must also be faced with the questions,"What really makes up a human?, What is love?, and Can one person really make a difference?" Wintersmith was another satisfying read from the English author Terry Prachett.

Wish You Were Here

When Ariel's mom tries to plan a fun family trip, it seems as though Ariel's whole summer is over. She can't hardly stand to think about bein away from Dylan, her semi-boyfriend (and not to mention they are going to be stuck on a tour bus with 2 overly happy people). But as Ariel meets an unsuspecting person things may not turn out so bad after all. I totally loved this book.

The Wizard Heir

I love magic books. Never can put them down its like their glued to my hands. Well, with that thought out of the way I can start this book review about the Wizard Heir. This is not one of your ordinary books. This book reveals the true nature of wizards to me (well at least to me) moreover this book has a very good plot. All his life Seph McCauley has wanted to go to a school where nothing bad happens (don't us all). Everything you can think of has happened to Seph that has gotten him kicked out of one school after another. Its not because he's evil but because he's a WIZARD he thinks he has finally found the place where he can relax and lead a normal school life. In fact this one place throws him more into wizardry where an evil (and probably psychopathic) wants him to join his army of zombie alumni.

World Weavers: Gift of the Unmage

Like most books I've read the main character or hero/heroine is always born to a family that hates them or their powers. However this book is different the main character is the daughter of the seventh son and daughter meaning that she is a double seventh. Unless you have read the first book of the Septimeus Heap series this means that she shall be a very powerful wizard. Except for one thing she isn't witch is a disappointment to her family. In school she excels at everything except magic. In a last ditch effort he sends her to an other world. So the first part of the adventure has begun.

Join Calder, Petra, and now Calder's old friend, Tommy on a quest to save an historic Frank Lloyd Wright house. This house, the Robie House, is in danger of being torn down due to neglect. These three brave kids must face danger to save this historic piece of art. A great read for anyone who enjoyed Chasing Vermeer!
