Selling your book at Square Books

Will Square Books stock my book?

If your book is published by a traditional publisher with whom we have an established relationship and standard terms we easily can order it. If your book is self-published, published by a non-traditional publisher or a publisher with whom we do not have an account we may accept your book on consignment.

What is consignment?

Consignment is an agreement to stock a book and pay the vendor only if it is sold.

What is the difference between a traditional and non-traditional publisher?

What we call traditional publishers are those, no matter their size or the types of books they publish in terms of content, who perform the conventional functions of publishing which include acquiring the manuscript (paying the author), editing, designing, marketing, distribution to bookstores, and so on.  Non-traditional publishers are all others.

How do I put my book on consignment with Square Books?

Square Books collects a $50 administrative fee for each title that a consignment vendor wishes to place with the store.

Contact books@squarebooks.com to arrange to pay the fee and complete the agreement.

Will you take any book?

Square Books will only carry books with a spine on which the title is printed. We will not accept stapled books, spiral bound, or any books without a spine. A 13-digit ISBN is preferred, but not required. Square Books reserves the right to decline entering into a consignment agreement for any reason. We will not accept books published by Amazon or its subsidiaries (Create Space, Book Search, etc.) or books that are non-returnable or otherwise are offered at less than standard trade terms.
