A dark rainy night, an abandoned bullet-ridden car, no body, and no
explanation. . . Buddy Heflin was a young charmer of a man and Alexis
fell head over heels in love with him in 1960s Mississippi. Soon they
had two small boys and the typical struggles of young married life. As
Buddy descended into a world of questionable activities and dangerous
associations, Alexis tried to hold the family together. Then suddenly,
Buddy was gone. His abandoned car was found, but questions just led to
more questions and no answers. Rumors and innuendo surrounded Buddy's
disappearance but eventually the investigators moved on and the case
grew cold. For everyone except Alexis. This is the story of one
woman's determination to find out what happened to the father of her
children and finally put the Mississippi Whispers to rest.
