In late 1993 Square Books opened an annex store, Off Square Books, only a few doors down the street from the main store, and there has grown a vast inventory of remainders — bargain books — along with a selection of used and collectible books. Off Square Books is also the space where an active schedule of touring authors, children's' events, and the weekly live radio show, Thacker Mountain Radio, take place.
Off Square Books is now, after moving locations to 120 Courthouse Square still just down the street from the main store, considered the "lifestyle store" including books on art, photography, gardening, architecture, travel, and more. It also carries magazines and periodicals as well as gifts, snacks, and drinks. Our bookstore cat, Mamacitta, lives there too (seen below). All of our author events and Thacker Mountain Radio are still held at Off Square Books, unless otherwise noted.
