HONORING MEDGAR EVERS AT OFF SQUARE BOOKS

Medgar Evers
(1925-1963)

Most of us recently have seen on television stories about or events commemorating Medgar Evers, as it is now fifty years since his assassination in Jackson, Mississippi. Here in Oxford many had the opportunity last month to hear Myrlie Evers Williams' moving and inspirational commencement address at the University of Mississippi.

At Off Square Books on Friday, June 14, beginning at 5 p.m., we will honor Medgar Evers' life with the appearance of two authors, Minrose Gwin, whose recent book is Remembering Medgar Evers, and poet Frank X Walker, with Turn Me Loose: The Unghosting of Medgar Evers.

Please join us for this special occasion as we continue both to grieve the loss and to celebrate the life of this great man. RH
